Axis & Allies celebrates 50 years of Avalon Hill games with this Anniversary Edition of the classic World War II strategy board game.
Designed by Larry Harris, A&A Anniversary Edition utilizes the standard D6 combat system found in Axis & Allies Revised, Europe, & Pacific. Italy debuts as the third Axis nation, China is operated by the US player, and cruiser class ships join the naval line-up for the first time. The largest board ever produced for an A&A game, along with deluxe components ensure this is the granddaddy of all Axis & Allies board games.

This version, more than any other, captures the global nature of world war II. The designers have taken the best parts of all editions and have masterfully blended them into a great game.
The best enhancements come in the form of China, Italy, objectives, and R&D. The inclusion of China and Italy necessarily make strategies far more sophisticated. The R&D rules ensure that technological differences play a bigger role in the war.
The only drawbacks are minor. The destroyers and cruisers are easily confused, and the two pieces of the board slide apart easily.
This is by far the most enjoyable edition that I have played.
