Product Description

Well, it was nice while it lasted! You have gotten word that the end is near, and Armageddon is right around the corner. (Actually, it begins tonight!) Since it may be a while before you can get to the store, today would be a good time to gather as many supplies as possible. After all, tomorrow might be the beginning of a long, cold, (nuclear) winter!

Reiner Knizia's Zombiegeddon is a fast-paced, perfect-information, strategy game. Each player spends the first half of the game rushing around the board collecting supplies and trying to stop your pesky neighbors from taking stuff that is rightfully yours. (At least as far as you are concerned!)

The second half of the game is spent trying to survive. Sure there is some good stuff around, but it certainly isn't plentiful and let's face it, everyone is still trying to take it before you do! (Whoever has the most stuff at the end of the game wins!)

Light Strategy with interesting choices
June 24, 2009

I was eager to open the box. A game from Twilight Creations, designed by Reiner Knizia. That's a pretty good combination. Did it live up to my expectations? Let's just say there's a good game in there!

The game is divided into two phases, pre-bomb and post-bomb. In each phase your turn consists of two actions or moves . you can move the same pawn twice, or two different pawns one space each. Pretty simple but you have to gather food, provisions, fight greedy neighbors and put one supply token in each of four bomb shelters. This is where the strategy comes in, because everyone else is doing the same thing. As you move from disk to disk you take the one you leave into your possession. The points for food are marked on each food disk. Provisions increase in value as you collect more of the same provision. The greedy neighbors are numbered for point value.

Gameplay in the post-bomb phase is the same except now there are many freaky looking mutants to fight. You need guns, ie gun disks, to capture these handsome fellows otherwise you're out of luck.

If you land on a man hole cover you have the option of moving to any other man hole cover but this counts as an action. This move can sometimes get you out of a tough spot quickly. If in the pre-bomb phase you don't reach each of the four bomb shelters with a supply token your pawns are reduced by that much in the second phase. Like I said, interesting choices.

The colors used in the disks and game board are appropriately dreary for the theme. The food, for example, doesn't look too appetizing ,but hey, this is an apocalypse. So take what you can get!

Zombiegeddon is not a brain burner, but it incorporates a nice amount of strategic choices and room for planning ahead. I'll be glad to play it anytime anyone offers. I love the artwork and theme. Nice job Twilight Creations!
