Krok Nik Douil Éditions is a new French publisher with grand plans, specifically the release of 4-5 new games annually, starting with the October 2009 release at Spiel of Mâamut: L'Esprit du Chasseur (Mammoth: The Spirit of the Hunter). Alain Epron, who heads Krok Nik Douil, designed Mâamut, which is a family game for 2-4 players from ages 10 and up, with a playing time of 20 minutes.
As a hunter in prehistoric times, your goal in the game is to track down and capture the spirit of the Great Mammoth, something that will require you to set traps in the grasslands and lead the mammoth into them. You're not alone on the hunt, however, so you'll need to analyze the moves of your fellow hunters and make sure not to lead the mammoth into somebody else's trap.
