Product Description

Anomia plays off the fact that our minds are positively brimming with all sorts of random information; things to eat, pop songs, websites, etc...

Sure, under normal circumstances, it's easy enough to give an example of a frozen food, or a dog breed; but you will find that your brain works a little differently under pressure!

The directions are simple. Draw a card from the center pile and flip it over. Does the symbol on your card match one on another player's card? If so, you must quickly face-off with the other player by giving an example of the person, place, or thing on their card before they can do the same for yours. If you blurt a correct answer out first, you win their card and drawing continues. Sounds simple, right? Wrong!

Wild cards allow unlike symbols to match, increasing the number of things you must pay attention to. Cascading face-offs can occur when you hand over a lost card revealing a new top card on your play pile. All this adds up to a high-energy, hilarious play experience where everyone is involved at all times.

Easy to learn, fun to play over and over again, Anomia will have any group of friends, family, even perfect strangers, shouting and laughing out loud as they try to beat each other to the punch!

And I thought I had a good vocabulary!

Just took a chance purchasing this game while at a game and puzzle convention. Wow! What an absolutely great party game! My wife and I have introduced this to anyone who would sit down and play, with hilarious results. Such a simple idea, but so much fun with nothing but two special decks of cards! One player at a time turns over a card quickly. If the symbol on his card matches any other players' turned over card he must be the first to give an example of the word on the other player's card. And that's the game. Sounds easy, but believe me it is not! There are also wild cards which, when turned up, go in the middle. A wild card has two different symbols on it. From now on, you must answer first if these two symbols ever appear between two players as well as if you match a symbol with another player. It's wild! Each time you are the first to answer you get the other player's card. Whoever has the most cards at the end of the game is the winner. There are some great party games out there, but there are none, that i can think of, that engage with more laughter and fun, fun, fun!

New Favorite Game

My sister gave me this game for Christmas '09 and I love it. It's best for 3-6 players. It's lots of fun and gets everyone excited and laughing a lot. I've started bringing it to parties and breaking it out - people love it. The nice thing is that I've played this a bunch of times and the cards don't get old. Takes more creativity and gets people more involved than Apples to Apples. My husband jokes that I sound like a salesperson for this game, but I can't help it - I love games, I've got a competitive streak and this one is a winner in my book.
