Die Säulen der Erde: Das Kartenspiel points players in the same direction as the Die Säulen der Erde base game: Use your craftsmen to gain victory points – but this time everything is on cards, and characters from the Ken Follett novel can show up to help you or hinder others.
Update, Aug. 26, 2010: User "Celtic Joker" at BoardGameGeek has posted a description of this game based on a playing of the prototype, so assuming he's not pulling our collective leg, here's a summary of the game: Die Säulen der Erde: Das Kartenspiel is a trick-taking game in which each player owns one of the suits, which represent craftsmen; the deck also includes neutral resource cards. One person might play the highest card in a trick, but if that card is "owned" by another player, that player will claim the trick's cards. After all the tricks have been played, players look at the cards they've claimed to see whether the craftsmen they've collected can convert the resources that they've gained into points. The game lasts several rounds, and the player with the most points wins.
