Being a long time player of Lord of the Rings LCG, I thought I would give this one a try. I do love LOTR, but wasn't sure what I would think of this. There are some significant differences, obviously. First off, this is not a co-op game, but dark side vs. light side. Not at all a deal breaker, but very different gameplay.
The art work is fantastic, as is true of most of FFG card games. The feeling of the game play is thematic, and quick paced - which I like.
My two issues (and they are not very big, I DO enjoy this game a lot) are:
1) The thematic pool draws from Star Wars Legends (EU), which these days feel a little out of place and dated.
2) I miss "missions" or "scenarios" from LOTR LCG. I fear that the game play will feel a bit repetitive in the long run, but I may be wrong!
Over all, I am pleased with it, and have already bought a handful of expansions.
