Product Description

Yours is an enchanted land made entirely of candy and confections, but underneath that sugar-frosted veneer lies the disturbing truth. The king has betrayed you all. The sweet, candy citizens throughout the land are being packaged and shipped from the castle to voracious children all over the world. But not you. You're not going out like that. Time to get your candy buttons out of Dodge! So, it's every gingerbread man for himself in a mad dash for the border. And if you have to snap a few ginger limbs to save yourself, well...that's the way the cookie crumbles.

That’s the way the cookie crumbles
July 31, 2010

If you’re looking at this game and thinking “Hey! This looks like a twisted version of Candy Land!” then your eyes have not deceived you.

Game play is fairly similar to Candy Land: You draw cards with candy symbols on them and move to the shape of the candy along the board. There are special spots to that advance you forward. That’s where the similarities end.

Each player also has a damage sheet they use to keep track of their body parts when they’re attacked as they move along the path. There are also action cards that allow for special attacks and ways to advance faster through the game. Two players can go head-to-head in a “Cookie Cage Match.”

Pro’s: Multiple players. Simple rules. Silly concept. Amusing artwork.

Con’s: Expensive since the replay value is minimal. The game feels incomplete and not as tight as it could be. The initial humor value is worthwhile, but the gameplay tends to get rote. The character game tokens are huge compared to the spaces on the board. Players are allowed to share the same spots but there’s barely enough room for 1 piece, let alone more!

Unless the game is cheap or you want to blow cash, I suggest skipping this one. ~Lou Rocco Centrella
