Product Description

This is a very unusual game. Each player is randomly assigned a secret identity, and then the group sits around and talks to each other trying to figure out which players are the werewolves. The villagers are trying to figure out who's a werewolf; the werewolves are pretending to be villagers, and trying to throw suspicion on real villagers. A moderator helps to keep the action going...

A very good game
December 16, 2008

We play this almost every week. There are some people (i.e., me) who almost always get lynched early even though we're almost always innocent, and some whom I swear can tell when I'm a werewolf (so I'll maul them first). The psychology and poker face aspects are great. It is fun to play, and never drags.

The main downside is that once you're out (generally through no fault of your own), you don't get to play while the subsequent rounds continue. Even with 5 minute rounds, you can be sitting out for quite a while.

The other downside is that you need to gather a large number of players to play it. It's not worth bothering to start with fewer than 7 or so, plus a moderator.

Excellent game for larger groups
November 10, 2007

Are You A Werewolf is the BEST game I have ever played!!! Since the game requires at least 8 players, the first time I pulled the game out I actually had to BEG several people to just give me 20 minutes to try the game. After 20 minutes no one wanted to quit. In fact, within the hour we had 16 people playing. Everyone had a great time. We ended up playing that first time for 2 1/2 hrs; laughing hysterically the whole time.

If you can get at least 8 people together you must try this game!!! FYI There are other versions of Werewolf that can accommodate even more than 16 players.

To add a little atmosphere to the game, when the Moderator begins to read the script, "It is night. The moon is full...", our group howls at the moon. This may sound corny, but it is a very effective way to get everyone into the right mood...

Anime Next's Best Night Game
June 18, 2006

I just came from Anime Next anime convention. I spent 2 nights playing Are you are werewolf? Around 2-3am leaving. I must say, it kept everyone up. The more people you have, the better the game was. First few rounds are slow, but after a while, you get everyone. Everyone develops a strategy.
