The old haunted castle is filled with lots of creepy characters, all trying to find their own shadow. A shadow is only visible when a window is open, but only one window is open at a time. Your job is to match up the shadow with the correct ghost. It takes a little bit of concentration, and a good memory is a big asset. But everyone starts with the same ghost of a chance to win.
As a side note, the English edition of the rules describe a bonus score which is awarded to any player who can deduce the identity of a missing piece that was removed from the board at the beginning of the game. This doesn't make much sense because the rules offer no incentive for guessing the missing piece early, and if you wait until the end, it is trivial to identify the missing piece because everything else is paired up. So what's the point? We just omit this rule, scoring one point for every matched tile.
